Welcome

Welcome to the Saint James United Methodist Church blog for the young men's small group. That is a mouthful. Hopefully, as we get this group up and going, we can come up with a name. We will talk about it. For now, this is where we start...at the beginning....with no name.

My name is Clay Weaver and I will serve as a facilitator for this group. Notice I did not say leader. I believe leadership is best left to the one doing the leading. It may not always be the same person. It can change and will change. As young men, you each have the ability to lead others. I believe that God has wired you in such a way that you were made to lead. It is the role He has established for you. Hey, keep in mind Proverbs 11:14, "For lack of guidance a nation falls, but many advisers make victory sure".

During the course of your lives, you will encounter times where you must stand up and take the lead. Others are going to be dependent upon you. Whether it is leadership you exhibit within your families, with your wives, with co-workers, or with friends, at some point others are going to look to you for leadership. They are going to look to you and they are going to hope that you have what it takes to succeed. Over the course of months we are going to find out what it is that they hope we have. I think you can come up with a few threads to run with on that one, but we will get to it in due time.

Hopefully this blog will be a place where we can capture and document the happenings within the group as it begins to take shape. I am sure we will post study material, photos, and other stuff as time goes on. For now, pray for one another. Pray for those group members we have yet to meet. We may not know them yet, but God does, and there is a reason He is leading them to this small group. Our job is to figure that out over the course of time.
